What Is An HBN Beauty Call™?
HBN's Beauty Calls™ are real telephone calls where HBN members chat one-on-one in a small group setting with a person of influence in the handmade toiletries and/or business industry. Beauty Calls™ take on-line chat rooms a step further, allowing you to talk personally on the phone with our special guest. A Beauty Call™ is the most efficient and cost-effective way to learn from experts in the industry.

Chat rooms are fine as far as they go, but they are impersonal and do not allow for a genuine exchange of information. In a Beauty Call™, you get to participate in an in-person conversation where you and others on the call benefit from intimacy, camaraderie and an atmosphere of sharing that is simply impossible to achieve in an on-line environment. Even if you don't want to actually talk on a Beauty Call™, you can listen and take notes, thus benefiting from the answers to everyone else's questions - without worrying about the questions and answers being cut off.

How Do Beauty Calls™ Work?
Beauty Calls™ are conference calls. HBN members call in using a special telephone number reserved especially for them. After entering a unique password, HBN members are entered into the conference call and can pose questions and chat with our guest. All Beauty Calls™ are hosted by HBN's president, Donna Maria. To help maximize time on Beauty Calls™, questions are submitted in advance to the guest and every effort is made to ensure that everyone has an equal chance to speak with the guest. Calls last no more than an hour, and conclude with the guest leaving behind additional information about how they can be contacted, where to purchase books and other learning materials, Web site information, etc.

top

How Often Does HBN Host Beauty Calls™?
Approximately once a quarter. They are usually held on a Thursday night from 9:00pm EST to 10:00pm EST. Our experience has shown that this time slot is convenient for the largest number of HBN members. An added benefit is that the long distance charges are much lower during this off-peak time frame. This allows you to spend an hour on the phone with someone that can help your business grow for a tiny fraction of their real consulting fee!!

Who Has Been A Guest On An HBN Beauty Call™?

Ron Jonas, President of Willow Way, LLC
May 13, 2005, 2:00pm-3:00pm EST

Topic: How To "Ramp Up" Production From Of Soaps & Other Handmade Beauty Products

"For me, I think this was one of the best calls yet. I didn't know I could increase my production and still utilize most of the equipment I already own. The more soap I can make at once the better!" Renee Deal, Deal Farm Soap Company, Massachusetts

"I received valuable information about equipment that I did not know about." Ann Walls, Afrocentric Imports, California

Ron Jonas is an HBN member and the owner of a manufacturer of soap and toiletries making equipment. We learned so much from Ron on our call about how to save time and money making soap. We also learned about how some of the equipment on the market today can help not only with soap but with wax/oil based balms and bath bombs! Oh! And if you think these Beauty Calls are all about providing information, then think again! We were excited to see many new member to member business relationships begin to form right there on the Beauty Call! Many members benefited just by hearing other members discuss the challenges they face in their soap production process, and how they could improve. Just one more reason to take advantage of our Beauty Calls!
