2. HANDMADE TOILETRIES THYME TRIVIA QUESTION ~ Last week's winner was HBN member Lori Kimble of Irish Hearth Soaps. Lori won an autographed copy of "Making Aromatherapy Creams & Lotions" by Donna Maria!!

LAST WEEK'S QUESTION: A half a century ago, women were typically denied membership in cosmetic trade organizations simply because of their gender. In 1954, an organization was formed to counter this discrimination. Today, this non-profit organization, based in New York, boasts nearly 1,200 members and hosts the annual Beauty Awards. To win, name the organization.

LAST WEEK'S ANSWER: Cosmetic Executive Women.

THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: This week's question has two parts: What type of aromatic oil used in perfumes and cosmetics is extracted from plant materials using tetra fluoro ethane gas, a hydroflourocarbon that is said to be environmentally safe and fully removed after the extraction process is completed, and who is the person credited with inventing this extraction process?

Be the first to provide the correct answer and win an autographed copy of "Making Aromatherapy Creams & Lotions" by Donna Maria!! (Book will be shipped when published in July.) Read contest rules at http://www.handmadebeauty.com/htns_Newsletter.htm

3. HANDMADE TOILETRIES PRODUCT REVIEWS

--->China Rain Aroma Lotion, Moonrise Bath and Body, 8 ounces ~ $12.00
This thick, rich, extra heavy lotion is more like a cream to me since it dispenses from a big wide-mouth jar. Rich with a pretty cream color to match the creamy feel, I have reached for Aroma Lotion many times over the past several weeks. I mainly like to smooth it over my feet before I go to bed at night. Since it's called a lotion, I was expecting something that would be thin enough to pump, but as a heavy cream, this is one of the best. It contains jojoba, avocado oil and mango butter and is one of the products I would use over and over again during the dry winter months. It penetrates quickly and I think my 8 ounce jar will last me forever since "a little dab'l do ya" for sure with this product. It massages readily and easily into the skin and the China Rain scent is nicely done and not overpowering. Aroma Lotion is made to order and available in tons of fragrances, including Lemon Drop, Juniper Breeze, Baby Powder and Nap Champa.

--->Seaweed Scrub, Moon and Stars Enchanted Soap, 5 ounces ~$5.50
Ready for a real spa experience that smells just like a powerful ocean breeze? I've smelled lots of essential oils blends that can only be described as "ocean wannabes," but this soap is boosted by the power of real seaweed which seems to make all the difference. I suppose everyone has a different concept of what an ocean scent should smell like. Most of the ones I've smelled before are over sweet, but the blend of essential oils in this green bar make it seem like the ocean is just outside shower. Speckled with real bits of seaweed and infused with chlorophyll and green and glacier clay, this bar contains essential oils of Cyprus, Juniper, Grapefruit and Lemon. Lightly exfoliating and a joy to smooth over thighs and feet alike. Other Moon and Stars Enchanted Soaps include Body Contour, Mint Madness, Juniper Tonic and Honey Almond Delight.

4. AROMATIC BEAUTY FOOD RECIPE ~ Honey Oat Cleanser

Ingredients
3 ounces grated handmade soap
2 ounces hot distilled water
1 teaspoon warmed honey
1/2 ounce finely ground oats
2 tablespoons bentonite clay
2 tablespoons almond meal
2 drops essential oil of choice (optional)

Blending Procedure
Mix soap, water and honey and stir vigorously to melt soap. Combine oats, clay and almond meal separately in another container and stir well to mix. Add dry ingredients a little at a time to liquid mixture and stir well to form a thick, paste-like mix. You don't have to add all of the dry mix ~ just stop adding it once the mixture obtains a thick yet spreadable texture that feels good on your skin. If you've added all of the dry ingredients and the mixture still seems a bit runny, add more clay or oats until the desired texture is obtained. Add essential oil and stir. Use Honey Oat Cleanser to cleanse and exfoliate face and body.
