3. HANDMADE BEAUTY TRIVIA QUESTION ~ The winner from June 25 was Sussana Brandon of Arlington,
Virginia. Susanna won a copy of Rosemary Gladstar's "Herbs For Natural Beauty!"
LAST WEEK'S QUESTION: Each year since 1972, a select group of fragrance-related companies is recognized by
its peers for creativity and innovation. Some people call the awards ceremony, held in New York, the "Oscars of
fragrance world." Awards categories include "Bath and Body Star of The Year," The Most Original Magazine
Feature," and "Technological Breakthrough of the Year". To win this week, state the name of the award and the
organization that sponsors it.
LAST WEEK'S ANSWER: The Fifi Awards, sponsored by The Fragrance
Foundation.
THIS WEEK'S QUESTION: I cannot be seen with the naked eye. I am always alone because I do not have a
partner. As a result, I am very unstable. I roam my environment looking for a partner, and if I can steal one from
someone else, all the better. Either way, I like to wreck havoc on your skin. Me and others like me attack healthy
skin cells, destroying anything good in your skin as fast as we can. I love the sun ~ I thrive in it and it creates the
perfect environment for me to destroy your skin's natural elastin and collagen, making you look as old as possible as
soon as possible. What am I?
This week's winner will receive a trio of soaps handmade by scratch by some of our own HBN members! Read
contest rules at http://www.handmadebeauty.com/htns_Newsletter.htm
4. HANDMADE BEAUTY PRODUCT REVIEW
Paula is this week's Guest Handmade Beauty Product Review Panelist. Paula is a 45-year old hospital nurse who
sells essential oils in her part-time Michigan-based business. Her combination skin is fair/white (due to her
German/Irish) background and she tends to burn easily, then later tans. People tell Paula that she has a smooth,
beautiful complexion, but her skin is sensitive and easily irritated. In wintertime, Paula's hands are especially dry
because she washes them so frequently at the hospital. To date, Paula has not had much experience using
handmade beauty products but we intend to change that!! She's excited because she likes being able to choose
among more natural products which she believes are good for her. We're listening, Paula!!
~Seaweed Salt Scrub by Scents of Balance. 6 oz. ~ $10.00
I have never been to a spa for any type of treatment or experience a seaweed salt scrub so I was really looking
forward to using Scents of Balance Seaweed Salt Scrub with essential oils of grapefruit, cypress, fennel, juniper and
soothing cold pressed vegetable oils. The packaging was attractive and the labels contained adequate directions
with the useful safety information.
My initial thought was "this is going to be really messy", but I was pleasantly surprised. You can use this product
before you bathe or shower. True to the label, my skin did feel tingly during and after use. But I would also add that
my skin felt both stimulated and energized as well! Even better, it felt smooth and silky ... I would say it glowed and
I felt great the whole day. I would definitely continue to use this product, and will recommend it to family and friends.
By the way, be careful not to use this product if you are in a hurry. I feel that to really enjoy its full benefits, you have
to take your time and really experience it.
5. AROMATIC BEAUTY FOOD RECIPE ~ Hemp Sun Butter
This week's guest contributor is HBN Member Katrina Kahn of Sunshower Soaps. Based in
