2.  HANDMADE BEAUTY TRIVIA QUESTION ~ Lots of good guesses have been received but still no winner from last week!

HANDMADE BEAUTY TRIVIA QUESTION: The following statement was first published in 1899 in a book authored by an entrepreneur who was once committed to an insane asylum by her own daughter:

"In this progressive and aggressive age, it is a singular fact that the art of the perfumer has not fundamentally changed, and it is greatly to be doubted if our oils and pomades today excel the precious ointments of Araby the blest, hundreds of years back.  We still are obliged to catch the odor of a bloom in fat, and to distill our choicest perfumes from these heavily flower-impregnated pomades as they are termed."

Be the first to provide the name of the author of the above, and win a selection of unique packaging supplies from HBN member The Packaging Goddess!

3.  HANDMADE BEAUTY PRODUCT REVIEW by Donna Maria

Wild Sunflower Soap by Of The Earth Soapworks
3.5 ounce bar ~ $4.00

This luscious bar used to be called "Revival" soap, but the name was recently changed to fit into a newly launched marketing program for the "wild" soaps made by Of The Earth Soapworks in Austin, Texas.  I only got to use this soap once because after that, my husband my resident "anything lemon thief") claimed it as his own.  During my fleeting experience, I enjoyed a rich, creamy lather that left my skin feeling extra-smooth and moisturized.  As with most soaps I want to use again, I didn't feel like I needed any lotion after using this bar.  Ginger essential oil gives this bar a definitive yet gentle "kick," while ground sunflower seeds and petals provide texture and make it lightly exfoliating.  My husband quickly used what I left behind and now, we have to order some more!  I have to say that one of the best things about this soap is the loving way in which it was wrapped ... in a little cellophane package with a nice label and a raffia bow.  A lovely presentation for a lovely bar of soap.  If you love lemon, you can't miss with this bar.  It's perfect for men and women.  (But make your husband buy his own!) Of The Earth Soapworks goodies can be purchased at www.oftheearthsoapworks.com.

5.  SKINFORMATION ~ Honey

Today's Aromatic Beauty Food Recipe is fast, easy and simple and contains one ingredient ... Honey.  According to Jeanne Rose, honey is "the perfect dressing" for any and all external skin problems.  Made by bees from the nectar of flowers, honey has been a valuable cosmetic ingredient since ancient times and is used today in masks, creams, lotions and other handmade beauty products to soothe and soften the skin.  Honey makes it possible to have a quick beauty treat anywhere, anytime.  Try darker honeys which may contain more minerals than lighter colored honeys.

6.  AROMATIC BEAUTY FOOD RECIPE ~ Jeanine's Honey Mask

hbeauty.jpg (13155 bytes) Today's beauty recipe is brought to you courtesy of Jeanine Pollak.  For more information about Jeanine's classes, books and consultations with Jeanine, call her at Botanic Adventures at (831) 425- FERN (3376).

After giving yourself a light facial steam, pat face semi-dry with a clean towel.  Leave face slightly moist, pull back any stray hairs, and then gently pat a couple of teaspoons of honey over face and neck.  Keep patting; the stickiness of the honey makes this whole process into a fun little exercise for your skin (like a mini-trampoline session for your face!).  Leave honey on for 15 minutes or more; the longer the better.  Rinse off with warm water, finish with a splash of cool water... your skin will be soft and smooth and oh-so-happy!  If your skin is prone to zits, add 1-2 drops of Tea Tree or Lavender Essential oil to the 2 teaspoons of honey, stir well, and then apply to face.  Avoid getting the honey into your eyes.
