4. Handmade Beauty Product Review by Donna Maria
Jojo Coco Cloud Cream by 310
2 oz. $17 (also available in larger 4 oz. size)

Winter is definitely taking a toll on my skin, especially on my face, and around my mouth in particular.  Dry like a desert ... and sometimes flaky if I'm not extra diligent about applying moisturizer consistently.  I have tried lots of different products over the past few weeks to soothe the dryness and occasional itchiness.  Jojo Coco Cloud Cream is one of my favorites.

I was trying to think of a word to describe this product and the thing that comes immediately to mind is "fluffy."  It feels fluffy.  Imagine rubbing a very light layer of a combination of pure, rich, fluffy whipped butter all over your skin and allowing it to sink in for a few minutes.

This product is as white as snow, no doubt due to the refined coconut oil it contains.  It glides easily into my skin, providing protection from the elements and a soft, silky feel.  There are several scents to choose from, like jasmine and rosewood, but my choice was the lemon and ylang ylang because it combines the freshness of citrus with the "exotic-ness" of ylang ylang.  It's clean and refreshing, yet also just a tad bit on the mysterious side.

Jojo Coco Cloud Cream and other delish treats are available from HBN member 310 and you can contact them through HBN's Online Member Directory.

Next week, I'll be reviewing one of the very best facial oil products I have ever tried ... stay tuned!!

5. Handmade Beauty Recipe ~ Vanilla Rose Brown Sugar Body Scrub
Last week's recipe, True Rose Super Rich Cleanser, was a scrumptious blend of handmade soap, honey and cream ... a sophisticated recipe ... not for novices. If you missed, it, you can read it here.

This week's recipe is more basic, but just as delicious, and can be used to exfoliate the top layer of body skin.  If I owned a spa, an exfoliating service using a product that looks, feels and smells like this one would be front and center.  It's a bit course for use on facial and neck skin but it's great for hands, thighs, elbows, knees and feet.  The aromas of real vanilla and pure rose hydrosol create a heavenly combination that is not attainable with synthetic fragrance oils, and the whipping cream makes it oohhh so sensual and creamy.  Vanilla Rose Brown Sugar Body Scrub smells like something you could drizzle atop baked apples and top with ice cream ... in fact, it's so natural, you probably could (but I don't recommend it!)  Enjoy!!

Ingredients
3 tablespoons coarsely ground oats
1 cup lightly packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons vanilla infused jojoba oil* or plain jojoba oil
2 tablespoons vegetable glycerin
1 tablespoon rose hydrosol
2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream

Blending Procedure
Combine oats and brown sugar and mix to evenly incorporate. In a separate container, combine jojoba, glycerin, whipping cream and hydrosol and stir well.  Add the liquid ingredients  to the dry ones and stir to mix.  The mixture should be thick and paste-like, not runny.  If it seems dry,  like it might not hold together well in your palm, add another tablespoon of hydrosol or whipping cream and stir well to mix. Vanilla Rose Brown Sugar Body Scrub should hold together well in your palm, allowing you to exfoliate the skin in the tub or shower. It will also make the tub or shower slippery so be especially careful not to slip and fall while you're pampering yourself. After exfoliating with this product, I like to finish with a rich moisturizer, then wrap myself in something flannel-like and warm, and tuck myself in for a good night's sleep!

*To make vanilla infused jojoba oil, massage a vanilla bean so that there are no flat sides and it is as rounded and tube like as possible. Working on a napkin or paper towel, use a sharp knife to carefully split the bean from top to bottom, but do not cut all the way through to the other side. Use a small spoon to loosen the seeds.  Place the bean and loosened seeds in a one ounce bottle and cover with jojoba oil.  Shake every few days, and in a few months, you will have a lovely natural jojoba blend infused with the warm scent of vanilla.  As you use the oil, add more vanilla and jojoba oil to the bottle. I have been using and adding to my infusion since October 1998, and am never without the exotic scent of pure vanilla.
