Trivia
Question: the winner of last week's
contest was Pamela
Wild of the United Kingdom! Pamela won some
Jojoba Bead Exfoliator, courtesy of
HBN member Green
Valley Aromatherapy!
Last Week's
Question: In Victorian England, fresh flowers were much more
popular as gifts than they are now, and most of them sent messages far more
potent than the fragrances which most people appreciate flowers for these
days. Back then, a gift of summer blooms of this flower were meant to send
the message that the giver thought you were boastful. To win this week,
provide the name of the flower being described. (Here's a hint: throughout
the south, these flowers cling beautifully to roadside mailboxes in many
suburban neighborhoods, providing curb appeal and beauty for the front of
the home; they come in a variety of colors.)
Last Week's Answer: hydrangea
I'm skipping the question this week, and believe me when I tell you that
I have a good reason. Stay tuned for that next week, plus a new trivia
question!

Handmade Beauty Product Review: Tangerine
Ginger Sugar Exfoliating Scrub
 Tangerine
Ginger Sugar Exfoliating Scrub
11.5 ounces | $12.95
Is there anything as great as
a wonderful sugar scrub? I think not! And these days, it seems like no good bath
and body product line is complete without one. Being nine months pregnant when I
finally got my hands on this Tangerine
Ginger Sugar Exfoliating Scrub, you can bet it had to be good in
order for me to contort my body enough to use it on my feet. Boy has it been
worth the effort!
Made by Sungarden Botanicals with green clay,
oats, sugar and olive oil, the smell is wonderful as you might imagine --
citrusy with a touch of spice from the ginger oil. I love the balance of
exfoliation that I get from the sugar and moisture that I get from the oil. It's
not at all a greasy product since the clay and ground oats tend to absorb some
of the oil that might otherwise make it feel too slick in the tub.
Since I like to have a bit of lather to boot when
I use a sugar scrub, I have been first lathering up my hands with a favorite bar
of soap (right now, that would be the sliver I have left of San Juan Salt
Scrub by HBN member Savonerie (click
here to enjoy the review if you missed it). Then, I scoop out some Tangerine
Ginger Sugar Exfoliating Scrub and scrub my feet for as long as I
can somewhat comfortably bend my body to do so. It really sloughs away the dead
skin and the uplifting aroma just makes me happy! Then, I put some on my elbows
and knees. It scoops up easily in my hands and feels and smells wonderful going
on. Sungarden Botanicals cautions against using this product on facial skin, but
I have found that it my touch is light enough, I can apply it to my face and
leave it on for a nice mask, rinsing with warm water, and loving it!
You can get your own Tangerine
Ginger Sugar Exfoliating Scrub , by contacting Sungarden Botanicals at (717) 397-7012 or sungarden@peoplepc.com. Retail
and wholesale available.
