3. Handmade Beauty
Trivia
Question: there's
no winner from last week so here's another chance, plus a few hints!
Last Week's
Question: I am an organization headed by a person thought by many to be
sort of weird. I am dedicated to researching the reasons why people have
problems smelling and/or tasting things. One of my recent projects involves
testing people's use of flavored food additives as a way to help them lose
weight. To win this week, state my name and the name of the flavored
food additives my Director uses in the weight loss testing.
Here's a hint: I'm not in Washington, DC. Also, note that this question
does not ask for the name of a person ...
Be
the first to correctly answer this week's question with the common and
botanical name of the above oil and win a generous sample of "Kitchen
Herb" type fragrance oil from HBN member From Nature With Love!
Please read the contest rules here
before submitting your entry. Put "TRIVIA CONTEST ANSWER" in the
subject line or your answer will not be considered.
While time does not permit me to respond personally to all entrants, the
winner's name will announced in the next newsletter!

Handmade Beauty Product Review: Soaps By HBN Member Cedar Lane Farms
Martha
Lupton of Cedar Lane Farms raises goats for several things, but lucky for us,
one of them is to make her wonderful goat milk soaps in tons of different
scents! I have tried several and you should too!
Cedar Lane Farms' soaps
contain over 33% pasteurized goat's milk from ADGA Registered Nubian Goats that
are range fed and raised on Martha's Virginia Beach farm. ... And there are tons
of scents to choose from. My favorite bar is Ben's Butter Bar, made with
buttermilk, shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter and sweet cream butter! The
not-so-heavy scent is peru balsam and vanilla fragrance oil. Ooooh! Another
favorite is "Exotic," a blend of rosewood essential oil and sandalwood
fragrance, this bar smells rich and heady and also contains camelia oil and
swirls of purple and black. This bar is not for the faint of heart or for anyone
who is easily overpowered by scent. Martha
says that the capryllic oil found only in goat's milk soap is known to help
moisturize the skin. If you love scented soaps and lots of rich, buttery, skin
loving ingredients, you can't go wrong with these soaps. Other scents available
(and in my bath waiting for me to try!!) include Mer's Memory (floral aroma with
swirls of orange and dark blue), Jennie's Bubbles & Berries (berry aroma
with pink strawberry seeds), Milk With Silk (a green bar made with fragrance
oils of mimosa, jasmine, neroli and frankincense and enriched with rice bran and
sesame seed oils. There's even a bar with triple filtered water from Virginia Beach where Cedar
Lane Farms makes its home -- that's the Sand 'N Sea bar. There's
no boredom here! It seems like if you can touch it, Martha can find a way to put
it in a bar of her soap. Each bar is about 3.5 ounces and hand beveled making it
a lovely gift! So if you're hungry for some of these inventive and skin
smoothing soaps, email Martha at cedarlanefarms@juno.com
to request a brochure. Several holiday scented soaps are available.
