2. Handmade
Beauty Recipe Of The Week: Birthday
Beauty Balm
Birthday
Beauty Balm is a wonderfully simple creation that helps keep maturing
skin like mine supple and hydrated. Now officially 2 years into my 4th
decade (today is my birthday!), I can truly say that for me, life began at 40 and people tell me
that decades of consistent use of handmade beauty products shows on my face.
I treated myself to a birthday manicure today and the nail technician told
me that my skin looked great compared to other people my age. She was
looking for crow's feet and said she couldn't find any. Of course she could
have been just schmoozing for a great tip, but I know that the products I
make and the ones I use regularly that are made by HBN members have served
my skin well over the years. I have never been interested in disguising the
rich texture of my life by removing the signs of aging -- I seek instead to
take care of my skin while allowing 4 decades of experience to radiate
naturally and honestly. I gave my service provider this recipe and she
promised she'd try it. Meanwhile, here
it is for your enjoyment!

Handmade Beauty Product Review: Strawberry Cream Tea by Marla's Apothecary
Strawberry Cream Tea
$20.00 | 4 ounces
As I finalize this week's newsletter, a few tablespoons of this
delicious blend of tea brews on my desk. A tablespoon of honey and a
generous serving of cream waits in a nearby cup, soon to be doused with
the infused water. Delish!
If you are looking for a natural way to enjoy
a cold winter night -- perhaps curled up by the fire with a good book --
this is a good companion. Strawberry Cream Tea is
made with China Black tea and blended with natural dried
strawberries, caramel and vanilla. Marla says it's good with condensed milk
but since I don't have a can of that in the house, the cream I keep on hand
to make warm holiday drinks serves well. The tea is available decaffeinated
or "high test," and also comes in Peach Cream flavor. I
haven't had a chance to try that one, but I'm so satisfied with the
strawberry. It smells sweet and rich and can be enjoyed equally with a
danish or a bowl of oatmeal. ust pour hot water over the tea, steep for 5
minutes and enjoy!
You can get your own Strawberry Cream Tea
and other goodies from Marla's
Apothecary.
